Following are just a few tips that can help you become a more sophisticated researcher! Be sure to see Ms. Kleparek for help with your research! The tips you learn will help you find higher quality, more relevant information - in less time! Keep in mind the following searches can also be completed in the advanced search mode (which will look a little different and will probably be easier to use).
1) Use only a few keywords. Place most important keywords first.
2) Use the advanced search feature and read the help section of the search tool you are using.
3) Start your research with a search directory (like ThoughtCo.), then continue with a search engine (like Google).
4) Use the exact phrase (" ") search to find results with those words in that exact order.

5) Use wildcards (*'s) to fill in missing letters or words. Wildcards can also be used to find variants of words.
6) Search for web sites with the keywords you're searching for in their titles.
7) Limit the domain (.edu, .gov, .com) for your search.
8) Limit the search to a certain site.
9) Exclude words (-)
10) Search for similar/related sites.
11) Begin your search with "define" to quickly find definitions.
12) Define a number range (..) to limit results to a certain date or price range.
