Notre Dame High School Library - About the Library
HOURS / SCHEDULE
The library will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00 - 3:30 (with the exception of 5th period - Lunch B - when it will be closed for the librarian's lunch). The librarian will also make a weekly interlibrary loan run to BOCES during the middle of the week.
The library media center operates on a flexible schedule. This allows various groups (study hall students, individuals, small groups from classes, whole classes) to use the library as needed.

STUDENTS FROM CLASSES / SCHEDULING CLASSES
When there is a student or a few students from a class who need to use the library, teachers should confirm with the librarian via email, phone, or written pass that they will be arriving soon.
If the students do not stay the whole period, the librarian will contact the teachers via email, phone, or written pass and let them know that students will return to class shortly. Written passes will be returned to teachers' mailboxes at the end of the day.
If more than 5 students from a class need to use the library, please inform the librarian in advance so that they may be accommodated.
Teachers, when you would like to bring your class to the library, please do the following:
1. Let the librarian know in advance. We can then meet informally to discuss the assignment, have time to find the best resources, etc. Also, the library will then be reserved for your class.
2. Give the librarian a copy of the assignment.
3. Come to the library with your class.
STUDYHALLS
Students are encouraged to visit the library during studyhalls when they have a library task to complete.
Students should report directly to the library media center when they need to use it during studyhalls. They need to report before the bell for the next period rings and then sign-in. The librarian will then e-mail studyhall teachers shortly after the period begins to give them the names of students who will spend the period in the library media center. If there is no room for students from studyhall due to a scheduled class, the students from studyhall are to report directly to studyhall before the bell rings. Students should come prepared and should stay in the library the whole period.
Seniors from senior lounge will be allowed to come and go from the library as they need to.
HOMEROOM
It is important that students check-in with their homeroom teachers as soon as they arrive at school! They can then ask for permission to use the library. The homeroom teacher will issue a pass. The students may stay a minute or the whole homeroom period.
AFTER SCHOOL
Students are encouraged to visit after school. Students may come and go as they need to after school.
LIBRARY RULES
